Academic librarians are responsible for the supply of literature and information on printed and electronic media. They evaluate the development of holdings, describe and catalogue the resources of their library and make acquisition decisions. They assign subject headings to the media, organise them into a classification system and maintain keyword systems.Academic librarians provide subject-related introductions to the library's holdings, carry out database training and create online training courses/tutorials on the use of databases. They also train their customers in questions of scientific work and literature research and management.
