Sound Assistant (Film)

Creative & Design

Sound assistants work together with the sound engineer. They are mainly used in feature films with direct sound recordings. Their most important tasks are to direct the microphone using a boom pole, taking into account the frame, light and shadow and the action. In Switzerland, the common name for the sound boom is "perch", which is why sound assistants are often also called perchmen/women.
