Train drivers in passenger transport are responsible for the passengers and the rolling stock. They ensure that passengers reach their destination station comfortably, safely and on time. In some cases, they are responsible for passenger information. Depending on the location, they drive different types of trains. Train drivers in freight transport transport raw materials and products in the form of liquid, bulky and bulk goods. They drive goods trains in domestic traffic and - after additional training - in international transit traffic. They drive various electric and diesel-powered shunting locomotives as well as mainline locomotives.
