Store Detective

Sales & Purchasing

Shop detectives observe the behaviour of customers by walking incognito between the shop racks or monitoring screens. If theft is suspected, they ask the person(s) concerned into a room to question them and examine the goods. If the theft is confirmed, they issue a warning or ban from the premises, collect compensation or notify the police (depending on the instructions of the business or the behaviour of the thief/thieves). They also fill out the necessary reports. In large department stores, they sometimes work as a team (one person in the shop and one person on the screen). Sometimes the tasks also include targeted checks on suspected employees at the till or in the sales area. In individual cases
