Sales & PurchasingShop detectives observe the behaviour of customers by walking incognito between the shop racks or monitoring screens. If theft is suspected, they ask the person(s) concerned into a room to question them and examine the goods. If the theft is confirmed, they issue a warning or ban from the premises, collect compensation or notify the police (depending on the instructions of the business or the behaviour of the thief/thieves). They also fill out the necessary reports. In large department stores, they sometimes work as a team (one person in the shop and one person on the screen).
