As filming and photography are not permitted in court hearings, courtroom sketch artists capture and sell expressive scenes from court hearings. They have to capture their subjects (usually the defendant) quickly and truthfully on paper. Facial expressions and facial features are expressive and are only rarely practised on a part-time basis.
