Geophysicist
Chemistry & PharmaGeophysicists work in a sub-field of earth sciences and deal in particular with the physics of the earth's body. They analyse its static structure, the physical processes in the Earth's interior, the temperature field and heat balance, the gravitational field, the magnetic field and seismic waves. They work with the methodological principles of physics, mathematics and computer science. Geophysicists apply their knowledge to the exploration and utilisation of raw materials such as crude oil or natural gas as well as to safety issues in mines and the construction industry. They record and analyse earthquakes, clarify the conductivity of the ground and investigate the temperature distribution in the mountains with regard to tunnel drilling. In environmental geophysics, they deal with pollutants
