Forest engineers FH manage their forests in a natural and multifunctional way. They ensure that the forest can fulfil its functions sustainably, for example for timber production, biodiversity, as a recreational area or as protection against natural hazards. To do this, the specialists need in-depth knowledge of the forest ecosystem. As a rule, forest engineers FH take on management tasks in forestry and forestry management, they advise interest groups, plan and realise projects or work in management. Possible employers include forestry companies, public administrations, engineering offices, timber trading companies, associations or organisations involved in development cooperation. Their activities vary depending on their specialisation and position.
