Specialist Dentist in Oral Surgery

Health & Medicine

Oral surgeons perform surgical procedures in the oral cavity, on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthetic, e.g. the surgical removal of wisdom teeth or the surgical treatment of jaw cysts. Implants with special material properties have opened up new possibilities. Oral surgeons can replace missing teeth with screw-shaped titanium dental implants or use them to anchor full dentures. Implants can also be used to repair bone defects. A further field of work of oral surgeons is the diagnosis and treatment of harmless ulcers or malignant growths of the mucous membranes, whereby they treat simple lesions with a CO2 laser.
