Specialist experts in oncology nursing accompany and support patients with chronic oncological diseases during the diagnosis and treatment phase. In palliative situations, the specialists orientate the care process towards palliative care and end-of-life care. Specialist experts in oncology care take over the specialist management of the care process. They gain an overview of the course of life, care and illness and involve the patients and their carers in this process. Based on this, they define achievable patient care goals and plan support services and therapeutic measures in collaboration with other specialists. With their in-depth nursing expertise, they manage and coordinate the nursing process.
