Specialist Doctor in Tropical and Travel Medicine

Health & Medicine

Specialists in tropical and travel medicine are able to recognise parasitic and other infections and diseases common in the tropics, detect them using specific diagnostic methods and treat them according to current knowledge. They examine and treat migrants, advise travellers and carry out preventive measures such as vaccinations as well as therapeutic measures for travel-related health problems. They are available to colleagues and hospitals as consultants, and in the tropics they mainly work as curative doctors, for example in the context of medical development cooperation or humanitarian aid.
