Neurology deals with disorders of the entire nervous system and musculature. Specialists in neurology treat patients with neurological disorders such as paralysis, stroke, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis, nerve injury and inflammation. Their task is to make a clinical diagnosis based on a physical and psychosocial history, a physical and neurological examination and treatment with suitable therapy, e.g. medication. Clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine include four skills programmes, such as electroencephalography or cerebrovascular sonography. Neurologists also advise and care for patients with chronic neurological diseases and psychosomatic and psychological disorders.
