Specialist in Medical Oncology

Specialists in medical oncology deal with the prevention, clinical diagnosis, medical treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up of malignant tumours. They also have basic knowledge of other disciplines that deal with malignant tumours and can integrate these in a multidisciplinary context. They are familiar with the epidemiology and genetics of tumour diseases and the basics of molecular biology. They are able to build relationships with patients and their families, taking into account psychological and psychosocial aspects. Their activities also include the admission of therapeutic emergencies, intensive care and pain therapy as well as accompanying the sick until they reach the end of their lives
