Endocrinology (= the study of hormones) deals with the internal glands and certain tissues that produce hormones and release them into the bloodstream, as well as with the control and regulation function of hormones in the human organism. Hormones coordinate, regulate and modulate the metabolism and thus create an internal balance. Specialists in endocrinology/diabetology are specialists in hormonal diseases, especially diabetes.
