Specialist in Angiology

Health & Medicine

Specialists in angiology specialise in diseases of the blood and lymph vessels. In angiological consultations, they clarify arterial, venous or lymphatic diseases, e.g. thromboses or "smoker's legs". Various examination methods are used, such as MRI and CT angiography (X-ray contrast examinations) or duplex sonography (ultrasound examination to assess the blood vessels). Based on the findings of the examination, angiologists work closely with radiologists or vascular surgeons to determine the best possible treatment, e.g. drug treatment, a balloon catheter or an operation. Following treatment, angiologists monitor the further progress of the patient's condition.
